Waterloo is a city of just under 5,000 inhabitants located in the RCM of La Haute-Yamaska, in the administrative region of Montérégie. Although it is part of the Montérégie administrative region, the RCM of La Haute-Yamaska is also part of the Eastern Townships tourism region.
 
Waterloo, with an area of 12 km2, is enclosed in the municipality of the Township of Shefford. It is the 2nd economic hub of the MRC after Granby. It is strategically located about sixty kilometers from Montreal and Sherbrooke, as well as from the American border. It is located at the crossroads of national highways 112, 241 and 243 and near Highway 10, which provides access to major urban centers.
